Where to eat and drink

Gum

Gum Bistro is a charming West End neighbourhood bistro. The restaurant highlights Queensland produce with a diverse wine selection and a menu that changes seasonally. Standout dishes include duck-liver parfait with native tamarind jelly, cabbage-wrapped cobia, Margra lamb rump, and sweetcorn agnolotti.

Biànca

Introducing Biànca, a vibrant & fun Italian trattoria by the ANYDAY team, which neighbours the popular modern Thai restaurant sAme sAme, both located on Ada Lane in Fortitude Valley. The menu is classic Italian with a nod to the Australian climate and dining scene, with an equally curated wine list designed to perfectly complement every dish.

Snug

True to its name, Snug is a charming, intimate café tucked away on a quiet street in Coorparoo, Brisbane. Renowned for their inventive yet accessible Korean-inspired brunch offerings and hojicha lattes, it’s common to see a queue outside, but don’t be deterred - it’s well worth the wait.

Bar Miette

Bar Miette is our European-inspired terrace bar and café located above Supernormal.  Join us for breakfast, lunch, dinner or stay for something in-between. The menu, like the aspect, is suitable for any occasion - stop in for a glass, stay for the bottle.

With an elevated vantage point and views of the Brisbane River, our sun-kissed terrace is open seven days a week. Monday to Saturday, 7am to 10pm. Sundays, 8am to 9pm.

What to see and do

Write Your Heart Out - Museum Of Brisbane

In 2021, author Trent Dalton spent two months on a lively Brisbane street corner with his vintage Olivetti typewriter, capturing the personal love stories of strangers, which inspired his celebrated book Love Stories. To celebrate the world-premiere adaptation of this work at the Brisbane Festival, Trent returns as Artist-in-Residence at the Museum of Brisbane, inviting visitors to share their own love stories through an interactive love-letter experience in September.

QAGOMA

The Queensland Art Gallery / Gallery of Modern Art (QAGOMA) stands as the leading visual arts institution in the state, situated in two adjacent buildings on Kurilpa Point in Brisbane. The galleries offer a rotating array of exhibitions showcasing contemporary and historical art from Australia and around the world, supported by engaging programs and events. Their collection is internationally significant, featuring contemporary works from Australia, Asia, and the Pacific.

Night Feast

Staged at the iconic Brisbane Powerhouse, Night Feast is a month-long sensory celebration of feasting and art. Brisbane Portrait Prize Exhibition

The Brisbane Portrait Prize Exhibition honours the people of Brisbane/Meanjin by highlighting the stories of its brave, imaginative, and devoted individuals that reside in our city. 2024 Finalists Exhibition is open August 3 - November 10 at the State Library of Queensland.
